What makes it funny?

Knights assigned to work in the kitchen make useful targets for ridicule. Fin's poor manners give the court an unpromising first impression, while his exchanges with Annika develop into a courtship conducted through traded jabs.

The comedy at work

Fin wants control of his kitchen and distance from everyone else. His job requires dealing with people who won't respect either wish, leaving him to manage rank, affection and household friction while hiding what he can do.

Try this if…

Readers who enjoy descriptions of food, a growing kitchen community and a slow romance may like spending time in this household. Domestic magic gives the relationships a practical place to develop.
