Privacy · Updated October 30, 2026
Privacy, in plain English.
You don’t need an account to use HahaFiction, and we don’t sell anything about you. We do use Google Analytics to see how the site gets used, so here’s what that means and how to opt out.
The short version
- No accounts, sign-ups or mailing lists.
- Google Analytics tells us which pages people visit. It never gets your name or email.
- Your searches stay in your browser. We only learn how many results came back.
- Visiting from the EU, the UK or Switzerland? No analytics cookies at all.
- We don’t sell your information or use advertising cookies.
What we collect
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use HahaFiction. It collects the pages you view, how you found us (a search engine or another site, for example), your rough location at the city or country level, and your device, browser and screen size.
It also records a few actions: opening a book page, clicking through to Amazon, running a search and starting a book suggestion. For searches, we see how many results came back, never what you typed.
We use all of this to learn which books and shelves people find useful and what we should improve. We don’t combine it with anything else to work out who you are.
Clicking through to Amazon
Book pages link to Amazon, and we’re an Amazon Associate, so we earn a small commission on qualifying purchases. When you follow one of those links, Amazon may set its own cookie to note that you came from us. Once you’re on Amazon, their privacy notice applies.
When you email us
Our suggestion page writes an email draft on your device. Nothing is sent until you press send in your own email app.
When you do write to us, we use your address and message only to reply and to look into your suggestion or correction. We never publish your name or email address, and we keep messages only as long as they’re useful for that.
Other places you might end up
Like every website, our hosting provider keeps basic server logs, such as IP addresses, the pages requested and browser type, to keep the site running and secure.
Book pages link to publishers, reviews and other sources. Those sites have their own privacy policies. Cover images load from HahaFiction itself, so just browsing doesn’t send anything to publishers.
Children
HahaFiction is for a general audience and isn’t aimed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices
You can opt out of analytics at any time with the tools above. If you have a question about your data, want to know what we hold, or would like something deleted, just email us and we’ll sort it out.
If we change how the site handles your information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
