What makes it funny?
Don, a game designer, carries on treating his unfinished game as the most urgent problem in the city. Civilization has collapsed, the Internet is down, and he still wants to upload his work.
The comedy at work
The survivors bring their old social habits with them. Slackers turn a mall into an ironic kingdom; corporate workers form committees and plan takeovers. A lethal disaster gives neither group the competence it needs.
Try this if…
Apocalypse stories take a ridiculous turn here, with jokes about gamers and office culture alongside the danger. Readers who enjoy bizarre horror have a more specific reason to pick it up than a taste for disaster fiction alone.
Good to know
The jam's victims include a roommate in the opening. The strawberry premise comes with lethal violence.
