What makes it funny?
One confused question uses up Rico's entire question allowance, and the system mutes his objections. He faces a bureaucracy that counts compliance more carefully than it considers whether its recruit knows what is happening.
The comedy at work
After a fatal encounter, Rico receives an abysmal performance rating. The dark joke treats dying on an assignment as another failure at work.
Try this if…
Summoning tiers, rewards, and new abilities provide progression for a protagonist who serves other people's quests. Rico experiences the disposable-minion role from the inside.
Good to know
An early summoning includes graphic violence: an armored orc cuts the unarmed Rico in half. You Are Summoned begins the series of the same name.
