Wrong Divinity

Oh Sh*t! I F*cking Hate Spiders!

Arachnomancer · Book 1

After a fatal encounter with a garbage truck, Dhane arrives in an afterlife built for gamers. Choosing a class and exploring a fantasy world sounds promising. His disastrous first day instead leaves him caught between humans and monsters, Light and Shadow, with spiders complicating a fresh start he thought he wanted.

What makes it funny?

Heaven has a staffing problem: its god would like someone else to do his job. The opening brings divine grandeur down to the level of petitions, smartphones and an embarrassing shopping mistake. Dhane is excited to be there, but enthusiasm gives him very little protection from looking foolish.

The comedy at work

Familiar game conveniences cause unfamiliar trouble when Dhane has to use them himself. A clothing menu becomes a social disaster; in the next chapter, an attempted heroic rescue becomes a bellyflop. The jokes sit inside the action, alongside health bars, damage numbers and injuries that still hurt.

Try this if…

Try this if you enjoy learning a game world alongside a flustered newcomer. The second chapter also offers a reason to care about the people he meets: creatures Dhane initially takes for enemies help him, and he risks himself for an injured new ally. That gives the adventure an emotional stake beyond the next reward.

Good to know

This opens the Arachnomancer series. The public chapters include nudity played for embarrassment, sexual innuendo and violent injury; the subtitle signals its use of profanity. Game terminology and visible stats are part of the experience. The two free chapters below let you try the voice and those mechanics before buying.
