What makes it funny?
The world's neglected citizens have gaming slang written into their identities. NPC means Non-Participating Citizen, while RNGesus gives random chance the authority of a missing god.
The comedy at work
The parody gives familiar game rules social consequences: quest-givers do the work, Heroes hold the privileges, and the people sidelined by that arrangement organize a rebellion.
Try this if…
A mismatched rebel crew and large mechanized battles give the game references an action plot. Familiarity with gaming language is part of the appeal.
Good to know
