What makes it funny?
A scene quoted by VGChartz has Jim waving his damaged arms at the Deleters, begging them to finish the job. His companions haul him away while he keeps advertising himself as an overlooked undead minion.
The comedy at work
Adventure and resurrection look less appealing from the monster’s side. Jim’s dry narration treats the opportunities offered by a role-playing game as personal grievances, while readers can recognize rules he has yet to understand.
Try this if…
Gaming experience adds another set of references, though reviewers who had never played an MMORPG still enjoyed the fantasy parody.
Good to know
Jim’s wish for permanent death drives the story. Expect profanity and pointed mockery of religion; VGChartz found the latter heavy-handed and the later pacing uneven.
