Island of the Sequined Love Nun
Tucker Case loses his job flying a cosmetics company's plane after a drunken crash. A missionary in Micronesia offers him another piloting job. With few options left, Tuck takes on missions whose purpose deserves rather more scrutiny than he gives it.

What makes it funny?
Tuck looks better suited to being a dashing pilot than he is to flying a plane. His trip across the Pacific keeps going wrong, while the island adventure makes room for sarcastic supernatural figures and a talking fruit bat.
The comedy at work
Moore sends an inept pilot through a rescue adventure that borrows from wartime flying movies, Shakespeare and biblical stories. Deliberately corny dialogue accompanies the mockery of heroic poses and religious authority.
Try this if…
For readers who enjoy supernatural adventures led by someone poorly equipped for the job, with plenty of irreverence about the traditions behind the quest.
Good to know
Expect sexual material, crude jokes, drunken flying and violence. The island's exploitation gives the farce a darker subject.
