What makes it funny?
Steve packs chocolate biscuits for a private flight, then asks for a sausage roll when the attendant offers sushi. Faced with a drinks selection far beyond his usual order, he settles into a tasting of twelve beers.
The comedy at work
Osman keeps Steve’s familiar habits intact as the surroundings grow more extravagant. The jokes come through patient exchanges with staff and Steve’s practical concerns about snacks, luggage and where to sit in a chauffeured car.
Try this if…
Dry conversations and an unlikely family partnership carry a fast-moving international mystery. The large supporting cast adds company as well as suspects.
Good to know
Steve’s recent widowhood gives the adventure an undercurrent of grief. The story includes murder and violence, which the BookBrowse review describes as avoiding graphic detail.
