What makes it funny?
In the opening chapter, Jack accuses Hannah of sabotaging him by removing his hotel minibar’s alcohol. He has already broken into the next room for more. When he forgets the safe code, she sends him a joke number that locks him out. Book-group readers enjoy his arrogant, self-destructive manner, often comparing it to Archer.
The comedy at work
Jack defends the dignity of his profession while ignoring mission instructions and drinking on the job. Hannah’s blunt corrections expose the gap between his claim to expertise and the mess he is making.
Try this if…
Tower-climbing readers who enjoy a quipping antihero sabotaging his own progress may enjoy Jack’s priorities. Readers in LitRPG groups single out the combination of action and laughs, while disagreeing about how much time they want to spend with him.
