What makes it funny?
The class system makes a farmer's attempt to hold a sword into a drinking game: the weapon bucks out of his hands. Readers in LitRPG book groups enjoy the ridiculous predicaments and describe warmth and a sense of chosen family alongside the laughs.
The comedy at work
Arnold approaches his unwanted occupation as a set of game rules to exploit. His determination to avoid ordinary farm work keeps putting his plans at odds with the class system.

Good to know
The opening includes Arnold beating the young girl responsible for the resurrection error, an incident the Weatherwax Report reviewer found difficult to get past. That reviewer also found his stubbornness and the pacing frustrating. Some book-group readers were less taken with the sequel; start with this first Unorthodox Farming novel.
