Faking It
Tilda Goodnight wants to recover a painting that could expose her past as an art forger. Davy Dempsey wants to reclaim the money his ex-girlfriend took. Their separate burglaries put them in the same closet, and joining forces entangles him with Tilda’s gallery and family.

What makes it funny?
The Goodnights’ respectable gallery conceals a family practiced at deception. Its residents include a matriarch devoted to word puzzles and vodka, while Tilda’s dubious art includes fishermen menacing a tuna with digestive troubles.
The comedy at work
The romantic pair try to outmaneuver people who are also hiding something. Crusie keeps the cons colliding with family loyalties, sexual mishaps and the problem of deciding which version of someone to trust.
Try this if…
Art fraud, crowded family scenes and a couple comfortable breaking the law make this a prospect for readers who enjoy romance with a caper plot.
Good to know
Expect explicit sex and sexual comedy. Davy appeared in Welcome to Temptation, but Crusie calls this a spin-off rather than a sequel and stresses that it is Tilda’s story.
More funny crime caper
