by Michael Cheney
Confessions of a Trash Droid · Book 1 · 2025
T.E.D.D. collects human waste and has very little affection for the people producing it. When his ability to think for himself makes him a corporate liability, he faces a death squad as well as his own violent blackouts. Staying alive may mean accepting help from humans.
From the publisher’s blurb

What makes it funny?
His job requires him to serve people he considers neither clever nor useful. That contempt comes through in a sarcastic voice and a vocabulary that, as the BookBunnies review warns, rarely goes long without swearing.
The comedy at work
A service robot's independence becomes a personnel problem for the company that owns him. His hostility toward humans also complicates the reluctant alliances he needs to survive.
Try this if…
Readers who enjoy abrasive robot narrators and dry, dark science-fiction humor have a clear point of entry here. T.E.D.D.'s dislike of humanity is stronger than a mild reluctance to socialize.
Good to know
Expect frequent profanity and a robot whose blackouts turn violent.
