Monty has a year to tour eighteenth-century Europe before taking over his family’s estate. Traveling with his sister Felicity and his best friend Percy, whom he secretly loves, he plans to enjoy himself. One reckless decision turns the trip into a manhunt.

## What makes it funny?

Monty’s tour comes with a condition: he must stay sober and behave respectably. At Versailles, he gets drunk, insults a duke, ends up naked and steals a trinket. His attempts at being a gentleman go downhill quickly.

### The comedy at work

Monty’s sharp tongue and aristocratic confidence are poor substitutes for judgment. He keeps turning the privileges of genteel travel into opportunities for embarrassment, leaving his companions to share the consequences.

### Try this if…

A romantic historical adventure for readers who enjoy travel mishaps and a flawed protagonist with plenty to learn. Monty’s feelings for Percy remain central as the journey grows more dangerous.

### Good to know

The adventure also addresses an abusive parent, racism, sexism, homophobia and prejudice toward epilepsy. Those pressures affect the travelers’ lives alongside the flirtation and comic mishaps.
