Emilie’s Valentine’s Day includes a car collision, a lost fellowship and the discovery that her boyfriend is cheating. Then she wakes up to the same day again. Repeated encounters with her lab partner Nick give her something else to consider as she tries different ways through the disaster.

## What makes it funny?

Emilie puts her first declaration of love in her planner. Even her fluttering heart cannot escape scrutiny: she wonders whether caffeine is responsible. Her effort to organize romance leaves little room for an unscheduled feeling.

### The comedy at work

The repeated day takes control away from someone accustomed to planning carefully. Each retry lets Emilie change her behavior, while Nick’s teasing challenges the composed version of herself she tries to maintain.

### Try this if…

A teen romance for readers who enjoy watching one day change through repeated attempts. The romantic questioning is as much about Emilie’s rigid expectations as it is about who deserves her affection.

### Good to know

The story includes parental divorce, struggles with self-worth, cheating and a car collision. Italicized confession headings provide glimpses of Emilie’s more playful private thoughts.
