Sera the dragon has brought home a human baby and expects her fellow dragons to accept him as her son. She names him Vur. He is a blue mage, able to learn skills from beasts, which makes a dragon upbringing an unusually powerful start in life.

## What makes it funny?

In the original free opening, the dragons struggle to congratulate a father whose new son looks suspiciously human. Sera forbids swearing around the baby, then casually mentions how many towns she destroyed. Readers in fantasy book groups single out Vur’s naivety and excessive power as reasons the first book makes them laugh.

### The comedy at work

Vernon knows the baby is human; Sera expects him to agree that it is a dragon. Domestic arguments over parenthood and feeding carry on among creatures who consider magical-beast blood a reasonable infant meal.

### Try this if…

Readers who enjoy an overpowered hero and deadpan fantasy silliness may find plenty here. Book-group readers also describe the appeal as mindless fun, so a taste for a deliberately ridiculous protagonist matters.

### Good to know

The free chapters on the author’s website are the original web novel. Virlyce identifies the ebook sold separately as an edited version, so the opening discussed here is useful context rather than a promise of identical wording.
