Cinnamon would like to stay home and sell spices. Instead, a drunken good deed leaves her traveling with Fallon, a demon determined to free his people from a witch. Her attraction to him makes an already inconvenient quest harder to keep at arm’s length.

## What makes it funny?

Cinnamon brings a homebody’s priorities to a fantasy adventure that expects heroism. The flirting keeps interrupting the grand mission, while casual, modern-sounding exchanges take the ceremony out of demons and destiny.

### The comedy at work

The jokes draw on a reluctant heroine, playful romantic sparring and anachronisms that puncture the fantasy setting’s solemnity.

### Try this if…

A choice for readers who want explicit romantic fantasy with cheeky dialogue and little reverence for heroic conventions.

### Good to know

This opens the Mead Mishaps series. The romance develops quickly and includes explicit sex.
