Drake's errand for beer and donuts ends in abduction to a fantasy world. After killing his kidnapper, he inherits Gloomwood Manor, its staff and wealth, and dangerous magic. His new rivals see a lord worth targeting.

## What makes it funny?

The attempted ritual execution is a poor introduction to lordship. Drake receives the grand title before he knows how to use its power, so looking capable becomes an urgent part of staying alive.

### Try this if…

Drake has to build loyalty and magical strength while managing political rivals. Battle maids and cat girls join the maneuvering in this progression fantasy's reversal of familiar transported-hero expectations.

### Good to know

This is the first Rise of a Manor Lord novel. Henry Kramer narrates the audiobook.
