A mother’s death leaves siblings with a disturbing obligation: their family tradition requires them to consume her body.

## What makes it funny?

The publisher presents the family ritual with humor; its reprinted Booklist praise specifically identifies dark humor and satire.

### The comedy at work

The shocking obligation meets practical disagreement, including dietary restrictions. That collision turns the question of preserving tradition into grotesque social satire.
