By Alex Karne · Magic Murder Cube Marine, book 1

Francis Francis Francis the 3rd survives Marine life until an explosion sends him into a world governed by gods and game rules. He wants to get back to his unit. Declining a job from Hades and annoying System make that harder, especially when he starts his new life in pink shorts and flip-flops.

## What makes it funny?

The opening reads through a military file whose hero keeps earning medals and reprimands for the same exploits. Francis tries to trade his Medal of Honor for Pokémon cards; confusion about C4 pre-workout somehow ends with a destroyed bunker. Readers in LitRPG book groups single out the opening chapter for its jokes.

### The comedy at work

Official reports give Francis’s impossible behavior the same sober treatment as routine discipline. Even declaring him dead becomes an administrative nuisance: his unit has already had to put him back on the roster too many times.

### Try this if…

Military in-jokes and absurdly powerful heroes are the draw here. Readers who enjoy game rules alongside reckless fighting may find plenty to follow; book-group readers report racing through it and looking for more of the same.

### Good to know

The author flags graphic violence and profanity. Expect deliberately excessive brutality and military humor.
