By Deanna Raybourn · Killers, book 1

Profile: https://hahafiction.com/books/killers-of-a-certain-age-64996190/

Billie, Mary Alice, Helen, and Natalie have spent forty years killing for an organization called the Museum. Their retirement cruise should be a reward. When another operative targets them, the four friends have to work out why their employers want them dead and use their experience to survive.

## What makes it funny?

An early assassination assignment begins with an argument about ripped pantyhose. Helen thinks Billie should dress properly for a killing; the men in the cockpit are busy quoting films and sizing up their female colleagues.

### The comedy at work

Raybourn puts professional killers through ordinary irritations, from fussy dress standards to condescending coworkers. The same women dismissed as out of date have the patience and skills to make that dismissal costly.

### Try this if…

A choice for readers who like dangerous assignments, experienced women working together, and humor edged with violence.

### Good to know

Expect bloody killings, profanity, and sexual comments. Billie narrates the present-day story; chapters about the team’s earlier work use third person.
