Perry Z has a magical princess for a mother and a supervillain for a father, yet no powers of his own. When a System finally gives him a way forward, it points him toward his father’s work. He would rather follow his mother, and starts looking for a way to combine their approaches.

## What makes it funny?

In Perry’s family, supervillainy can be a nine-to-five job and choosing a career means picking between wildly powerful parents. FanFiAddict’s book-one review also singles out the self-deprecating snark in explanations that explore the science behind a power, then concede that some things come down to magic.

### The comedy at work

Perry’s technical curiosity gives the family problem somewhere to go: he tries to understand what his abilities permit and how to exploit them. The joke about inheriting the wrong kind of power sits alongside the practical work of making those powers useful.

### Try this if…

Readers who enjoy superhero equipment and figuring out power systems have a clear point of entry. Book groups place it beside Dungeon Crawler Carl, Noobtown and Heretical Fishing in funny-LitRPG discussions. Audio listeners single out Steve Campbell’s voices and attitudes.

### Good to know

The action includes guns and explosions; the author flags graphic violence, profanity and sexual content for the original serial. FanFiAddict enjoyed the first book but found it long. Readers discussing the series also warn that it becomes increasingly wild in later volumes.
