Henrietta is supposed to kill the Dark Lord Keith. She would rather bake, while Keith would rather pursue his magical research than behave like a tyrant. An encounter that should end in a battle instead gives them a chance to share tea and grow fond of each other, with war threatening their kingdoms.

## What makes it funny?

Henrietta eats lunch with her target’s guards and worries about damaging his property. When Keith cannot quite believe her courteous approach to assassination, she takes his confusion as a possible hearing problem.

### The comedy at work

The warrior princess and the dark lord have ordinary interests that make their assigned roles awkward. Baking, research and good manners keep interrupting the confrontation their titles seem to demand.

### Try this if…

A gradual romance, friendship and domestic pleasures carry much of the story. Readers who want game rules without constant attention to statistics can follow the relationships while levels and abilities remain part of the world.

### Good to know

The cozy presentation includes abusive parents and family trauma. The early chapter also contains magical injury and threats of death.
