Fed up with being single, Rayna tries a spell she finds in fiction. It works well enough to summon a demon and leave her bound to him. Getting her old life back now means finding a way to undo the connection to Metice, the boyfriend her experiment actually produced.

## What makes it funny?

Rayna sets out to solve a dating problem with a book spell and ends up arguing with the demon it summons. Her exchanges with Metice include bickering and mind games; the supernatural company also includes Pico, a magical blue dog who smells of apricots.

### The comedy at work

The wish for a perfect boyfriend creates a relationship Rayna needs to escape. That reversal gives her practical trouble to solve, while the leads’ verbal sparring lets each push back against the other.

### Try this if…

The appeal is in a magical romance with adult jokes and combative conversation. Readers who enjoy potty humor alongside a supernatural predicament have a clearer match here than those seeking gentle courtship.

### Good to know

The book includes graphic sex, gore and profanity. It opens the Accidents Happen series.
