# Something

By Dakota Krout · Full Murderhobo, book 1

Profile: https://hahafiction.com/books/full-murderhobo-a29ac001/

Luke expects to become a leatherworker until a military draft sends him for magical testing. He qualifies for Ascender training, but his portal deposits him in a hostile plane without a trainer. Surviving the monsters will demand more than the lessons he expected to receive.

## What makes it funny?

After prolonged isolation among monsters, Luke treats ordinary weather as another enemy. Thunder is a warning that the sky is attacking, and punching the rain seems to him like a reasonable response.

### The comedy at work

Luke keeps applying the habits that helped him survive to things that cannot be fought. Krout makes an ordinary storm a combat problem for someone whose sense of danger has been badly distorted; puns add another kind of humor.

### Try this if…

Readers who enjoy visible game rules, evolving abilities and extended training across several viewpoints. A substantial combat mission shares the book with the development of those powers.

### Good to know

The hostile setting and Luke’s isolation threaten his humanity. This begins the completed three-book Full Murderhobo series, with plenty of training and combat along the way.
