# Death, Loot & Vampires

By Benjamin Kerei · The Vampire Vincent, book 1

Profile: https://hahafiction.com/books/death-loot-and-vampires-8369a8d7/

Summoned to another world by a vampire cult, Vincent becomes the kind of monster he never intended to be. He needs enough power to protect his family while the remnants of his humanity—and his soul—remain at risk.

## What makes it funny?

Vincent and his son know their anime tropes and talk about them while living through a transported-world adventure themselves. Their shared genre knowledge supplies comic commentary; readers in LitRPG book groups also point to the dad jokes.

### The comedy at work

The father and son can recognize familiar entertainment conventions inside an unfamiliar world. That awareness gives them something to discuss together even as Vincent’s transformation changes what he can feel. Family conversation and genre commentary run alongside the vampire danger.

### Try this if…

For progression-fantasy readers who want a father’s determination to protect his family behind the pursuit of new powers. Familiarity with anime and transported-to-another-world stories gives the genre commentary an extra point of connection.

### Good to know

Expect graphic violence, profanity and sexual content. The publisher explicitly rules out romance and harem elements, and Vincent’s loss of ordinary human emotions is part of the character’s situation.
