Brad knows strategy games, but this one pits shelter-building and crafting against monsters, a hostile AI and people who have paid to hunt other players. Losing means being erased from reality. Slash has also acquired the ability to talk.

Slash uses his new voice freely. A reader testimonial on Sating’s site describes the dog trying to help Brad meet women, then wrecking those efforts with his dirty language. The small companion who wants to improve Brad’s prospects keeps getting in his way.
