Jody wakes up a vampire and needs someone to handle the hours she can no longer spend in daylight. Tommy, an aspiring writer working nights at a San Francisco supermarket, becomes her helper and lover. A series of drained corpses gives their new relationship a more urgent problem.

## What makes it funny?

Tommy turns to The Vampire Lestat for practical advice about Jody. His ambitions as a writer also have to coexist with a supermarket crew's frozen-turkey bowling.

### The comedy at work

Jody's new powers don't remove her insecurities, and falling in love doesn't make the couple's schedules compatible. Moore gets farce from the ordinary negotiations of a new relationship conducted under vampire rules.

### Try this if…

Vampire courtship, slapstick and a murder puzzle share the space here. It suits a taste for supernatural trouble with plenty of romantic embarrassment.

### Good to know

Sex and blood-drained bodies are part of the story. The comic tone accompanies a romance with lethal complications.
