Dungeon accountant Cal Illudere and his team need to turn a stink slime’s failing dungeon into a place that can withstand powerful raiders. At stake is a world populated by puppies. His colleagues bring design expertise, an appetite for cookies and questionable engineering credentials.

## What makes it funny?

The team’s equipment discussion runs into competing priorities: Helga worries about Cal’s robe-and-bag aesthetic, while Kronke wants to know how many cookies a backpack holds. Hurricane the battle goat contributes by eating official audit reports.

### The comedy at work

Dungeon adventuring becomes a government job, complete with paperwork, payroll deductions and an interrupted annual retreat. The former raiders have magical abilities, but their work still produces ordinary office arguments.

### Try this if…

Try this for fantasy about improving dungeons, managing a team and making the administrative side of an adventure work. Its LitRPG setting gives practical problems room alongside magical advancement.

### Good to know

The book is set in the wider Shadowcroft Universe. Dungeons here protect worlds’ supplies of magic, so destroying one can threaten the world it guards.
