# A Not So Meet Cute

By Meghan Quinn · Cane Brothers, book 1

Profile: https://hahafiction.com/books/a-not-so-meet-cute-1d422ab1/

Lottie Gardner loses her job and goes looking for a wealthy husband in Beverly Hills. Huxley Cane has told a prospective client that he is engaged, and now he needs someone to play his fiancée. Their arrangement puts Lottie in his mansion with a relationship to perform.

## What makes it funny?

The opening pairs two bruised egos. Lottie’s boss praises the work that paid for her vacation, then fires her to avoid a raise. Huxley storms out of a failed meeting to find his brothers ready with sarcastic congratulations.

### The comedy at work

Quinn switches between Lottie’s and Huxley’s thoughts, giving their polished public appearances an irritated private commentary. The fake engagement adds another performance to maintain as their attraction complicates the bargain.

### Try this if…

A fit for readers who like billionaire romance, fake dating and antagonistic exchanges with plenty of sexual tension.

### Good to know

Expect steamy sexual material and strong language. Huxley pressures Lottie into their agreement; readers who dislike a controlling romantic lead may find that dynamic frustrating.
